OsteOXenon Bone Blocks
Rigid blocks of natural equine spongy bone and natural equine cortical spongy bone, enzymatically deantigenated, with preserved bone collagen.
How to use:
Intraoperative modeling and grafting
After having skeletonized the crest, and exposed the site to be regenerated:
1. Open the blister
2. Model the block using a low speed ceramic rotary instrument without hydration (dry), with small volume removals to avoid overheating
3. Prepare the positioning site by drilling the crest in several points so that a good amount of blood comes out
4. To house the osteosynthesis screws, drill the block with a drill of the same size as the diameter of the screw coils
5. Hydrate the block for 1-2 minutes in sterile saline
6. Position the shaped block in the grafting site and fix it with the osteosynthesis screws (at least two)
7. Fill gaps, if any, with osteOXenon bone syringe granules (OX21)
8. Protect the graft site with an appropriate Heart Pericardium Resorbable Membrane (HRT001/HRT002)
9. Carefully and appropriately release the flaps and suture with totally passive closure of the flaps for primary intention healing.
General considerations for use and precautions:
The use of block grafts is recommended for surgeons who already have experience with this type of block graft with autologous bone, or who have the opportunity to assist an expert surgeon to acquire the positioning technique before starting to operate with this type of graft.
It should be remembered that one of the most complex and difficult to manage parts of block surgery is the management of the soft tissues.
Indications of use:
The use of blocks is recommended for vertical and/or horizontal augmentation in both the maxilla and mandible.
At present there is insufficient evidence of the reproducibility of the result for augmentations, especially vertical ones, in the posterior mandible.
It should be remembered that vertical or horizontal regenerations greater than 5 mm present a greater risk of failure: in this case the non-regenerated portion of the block may be exposed.
